Job Description

Overview

Reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer, the Manufacturing Engineer develops in the subject matter expert for the asset group assigned. By developing maintenance and operational procedures, the Manufacturing Engineer ensures the optimal operation of productive assets in a safe and sustainable way .

Key Accountabilities

Asset Performance Management

  • Monitor line performance on a shift-to-shift basis and follow up on any deviations to ensure processes are maintained in control.
  • Take ownership of the development and deployment of maintenance plans with a data driven approach.
  • Be a champion of root cause analysis when diagnosing issues in order to develop and propose the most effective continuous improvement plan. 

Project Management

  • Lead cross-departmental teams in projects related to the designated asset group.
  • Support product development through the creation of prototypes and specifications through testing and qualification of new products.
  • Prepare documentation for transfer of projects into production, including testing plan and training modules for operations.

Health & Safety

  • Promote a culture of health and safety by following all health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Ensuring all safety systems are in good working order and take a proactive approach at ensuring safety during operation and interventions on the designated asset group.
  • Ensure a safe working environment exists and promote a clean and well organised work space by following 5S principles at all times. 

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ hands-on experience, ideally in a food manufacturing environment. 

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity of food packaging and/or processing equipment
  • Familiarity with GMPs, Safe Food Handling, HACCP and HSE guidelines
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Hands on knowledge of project management techniques
  • Continuous improvement through the development of procedures and processes
