Job Description

Overview

Provide operational service towards attaining efficient quality and output in line with production activities as required by customer. The operator will be responsible to perform the required daily verifications to ensure the equipment is always maintained in its optimal state of operation. The operator has a moderate organisational impact that affects one department.   

Key Accountabilities

Efficient line operation 

  • Ensure that the right type of raw/packaging material is available in adequate quantity while highlighting shortages to avoid downtime/delays/stoppages
  • Ensure that the machine is constantly set at the correct speed and timing 
  • Operate the line with the maximum efficiency
  • Lead the group of employees assigned to and assist on the line and ensure that the work delegated is effectively completed
  • Train, if certified, Trainee Operators both in the same or lower grades and support, assist and guide in related duties effectively
  • Carry out necessary changeovers and settings to the lines according to plant manual timely and efficiently

Adherence to procedures in line with Company standards

  • Conform to health and safety procedures, and ensure for the use of personal protective equipment in production areas as per required standard
  • Ensure for the safekeeping and proper use of equipment while reporting any shortages or deficiencies immediately to Supervisor
  • Operate the line according to the operational manual as well as the established production rates and quality standards
  • Monitor production quality (QC on line) and fill in documentation while reporting all deviations or irregularities immediately  
  • Ensure for the correct filling of production documentation while keeping to the target efficiencies stipulated
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness, hygiene for machinery and surrounding areas at all times
  • Pack work- in- progress in clean containers and ensure for proper tagging and ensure that the procedure of rework material (recycling) is correctly followed

Ideal Candidate Profile

Educational level (Entry level)

• School leaving certificate up to secondary level. 

• Able to read and write in English

• Achieve Company Pre-Enrolment test - Operator entry level

Experience

  • In house training will be given but year experience in a food/pharmaceutical/chemical manufacturing working environment would be an asset
  • Self-leading experience with subordinate to procedural skills

Technical Skills

  • Experienced with GMP, 5S, ISO Standards, HACCP practices and HSE guidelines 
  • Variations in sequence
