Job Description

Overview

To support operations in ensuring that the correct quantities of ingredients for production are weighed and prepared as required. The batch handler has a moderate organisational impact that affects one department.   

Key Accountabilities

Effective preparation of raw material goods

  • Weigh raw material accurately as per the indicated rates and established standards using Ishida system
  • Ensure that ingredients are mixed according to the specific parameters as per Ishida system
  • Ensure that all weighed ingredients, carry Ishida label accordingly
  • Ensure for proper usage of raw material while avoiding unnecessary wastage  
  • Monitor usage of raw material and record accordingly 
  • Ensure that the data is being correctly recorded at each of the stages
  • Ensure that deviations and/or irregularities encountered are reported and escalated immediately 

Adherence to procedures in line with Company standards

  • Follow established process and procedures
  • Conform to OHSE procedures, and make use of all PPE provided 
  • Ensure that all personnel adhere to safe and hygienic standards 
  • Ensure the upkeep of equipment used in areas 
  • Report any deviations or irregularities encountered to the supervisor and line operators
  • Ensure the correct filling of documentation required

Effective Machine set-ups and upkeep of hygiene standards

  • Dismantle machine equipment and related piping’s, ducts and auxiliaries in a correct and safety manner according to established procedures
  • Clean equipment and machinery according to procedures in line with the specifications required such as routine washing or changing of product on machinery
  • Ensure that effective drying has been done before usage
  • Ensure that correct re-assembling has been effected according to specifications
  • Prepare the machine for the next production run timely and efficiently
  • Ensure that areas are cleared according to the established procedures while adhering to the cleaning schedule on a daily basis
  • Ensure for the proper maintenance of all equipment and instruments entrusted 
  • Follow and adhere to Critical Control Points when required

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education

  • Company Pre-Enrolment basic test
  • Secondary level of education 

Experience

  • 2-year experience in a food/pharmaceutical/chemical manufacturing working environment
  • Self-leading experience with subordinate to procedural skills
